Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit,
Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, condemned the Israeli
Knesset’s decision to classify UNRWA as a terrorist organisation. He
described the decision as absurd, politically bankrupt, and an insult to
humanitarian and human rights efforts on an international level.
Gamal Roshdy, the spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that Mr.
Aboul Gheit believes the decision undermines UNRWA's legitimacy and
international reputation. He noted that it is part of a systematic
campaign by the occupying state to weaken the international agency's
role in serving refugees. Mr. Aboul Gheit stressed that the decision
highlights the extreme isolation of Israeli politicians and reflects
their vision devoid of any human or moral dimension.
