    Date: 22/07/2024

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (Social Affairs Sector, Youth and Sports Department, Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers) organised the third edition of the Model Arab Youth Parliament for 2024 under the title “Towards Sustainable Community Participation.” The simulation model was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Arab Republic of Egypt, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports and head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports.

The model is held from 21 to 27 July at the Engineering Authority Guest House in Cairo, with the participation of 100 young men and women from 15 member countries of the League of Arab States.
On this occasion, Her Excellency Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Social Affairs Sector, emphasised that the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, through the Council of Arab Youth and Sports Ministers, is dedicated to addressing the needs, ambitions, and aspirations of Arab youth. She noted that the General Secretariat organises various youth activities and events annually in cooperation with member countries. The Arab Youth Parliament model is one such activity that the General Secretariat has consistently prioritised for several years. Dr. Abu Ghazaleh explained that the model serves as a platform for youth dialogue, helping to prepare a generation of conscious, leadership-ready youth who are capable of assuming responsibility, participating in political life, addressing real-world challenges, and planning for a more sustainable and stable future.
Dr. Abu Ghazaleh added that the Arab Youth Parliament simulation model aims to achieve several important goals, including enhancing awareness among Arab youth about the common challenges facing Arab countries and the ways to address them, strengthening mechanisms for youth parliamentary diplomacy, and equipping Arab youth with necessary skills and knowledge. The model also seeks to build future Arab youth leadership cadres to transfer the work experiences of the League of Arab States to the younger generation. The activities of the model focus on the political, economic, and social arenas.
